Bug 59695 “Parcheggio hard disk”: fix released!

Forse non tutti sanno quale bug sia il 59695, ma sicuramente verrà in mente se dico “hard disk-acpi-laptop mode”.
Se ne è parlato per oltre un anno su tutti i forum e blog, col timore che il proprio disco fisso ci lasciasse prematuramente, e tutti a fare calcoli tra numero di cicli e ore di attività del dispositivo. Ammettiamolo! chi non ha mai fatto un
sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda
e, subito dopo, diviso Load_Cycle_Count per Power_On_Hours per scoprire quanta vita restasse al nostro disco.
Si scatenò una marea di opinioni: chi imputava la colpa ad Ubuntu, chi diceva che fosse colpa del laptop-mode, chi sosteneva che il problema riguardasse solo alcune marche di hard disk e chi ancora ne metteva in dubbio l’esistenza, e via dicendo…e così si iniziò a “giocare” con hdparm e script di vario genere per mettere una pezza al problema.
L’attesa è stata lunga, ma a distanza di circa un anno è stata finalmente rilasciata la patch che in molti aspettavamo.

Per installare l’aggiornamento basta abilitare il repository degli aggiornamenti proposti (hardy/Intrepid-proposed) da Sorgenti software ed aggiornare il sistema.

sai dirmi se questo bug e’ “fixed” di default in Jaunty o se è necessario anche lì fare l’upgrade?
